Realme X2 Pro all set to take on the king OnePlus 7T
Realme, the smartphone manufacturer which started selling smartphones in the budget segment slowly entered into the mid-range segment and launched many smartphones that had good specifications and provided good value for money.
Realme didn’t have any smartphone in the flagship range so this year it came with the Realme X2 Pro which got launched at Rs.29,999 and provides a 90Hz display, Snapdragon 855+ chipset, 64MP camera, and a faster 50W charger.
And now recently it launched the Realme X2 powered by the Snapdragon 730G under Rs.20,000. On the other hand, the OnePlus has been going strong in the market with the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7T in this range.
The OnePlus 7T came in September which was a good upgrade over the OnePlus 7 as it was the first one to come with a Snapdragon 855+ chipset and provided a 90Hz display just like the OnePlus 7 Pro. Now both are in the market having almost the same specifications but there are some differences between both. So let’s find out and see which is the better flagship killer.
Realme X2 Pro vs OnePlus 7T Design:
Both have minimum bezels to the side making the display look good from the front. On the sides, both have the power button and the volume controls but the OnePlus 7T like all other OnePlus devices gets an alert slider to control notifications.
The OnePlus 7T feels lighter to hold than the Realme X2 Pro as it weighs 9gms lesser than the Realme X2 Pro which weighs 199gms. The OnePlus 7T is also slimmer than the Realme X2 Pro also.
On the back, the OnePlus 7T has a circular camera setup consisting of three cameras whereas, on the other hand, the Realme X2 Pro has a quad-camera setup in the middle with the Realme logo under it. The back of the OnePlus 7T is made of frosted glass so it feels a little bit premium compared to that of Realme X2 Pro which has a shiny back.
Both come with P2i coating which means they are splash resistant and don’t have any IP rating. The one area where the Realme X2 Pro holds an edge has a 3.5mm headphone jack which the OnePlus 7T lacks.
The OnePlus 7T comes with Frosted Silver and Glacier Blue and the Realme X2 Pro comes in – Neptune Blue and Lunar White. Both have good design but here the OnePlus 7T holds a slight edge as it looks and feels premium because of the frosted finish and good weight distribution overall.
Winner: OnePlus 7T with the frosted finish
Realme X2 Pro vs OnePlus 7T Display:
The screen on both smartphones is bright and since both are AMOLED displays, the blue and blacks look punchy, and viewing both screens under direct sunlight is not a problem. Both come with a 90Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and gameplay. Both have a teardrop notch on the top of the screen.
The display on the Realme X2 Pro is Super AMOLED so the colors look punchier compared to Fluid AMOLED on OnePlus 7T. But the color temperature is well balanced on the OnePlus 7T whereas on the Realme X2 Pro it tends to vary a bit.
Both the smartphones support Widevine L1 so streaming HD contents from Amazon, Netflix will be a breeze. Both have Blue Light filters for use during the night. So in terms of display both are equally the same as both have a 90Hz display.
Winner: Tie as both have a 90Hz display.
Realme X2 Pro vs OnePlus 7T Performance:
The Snapdragon 855 is a slight upgrade over the Snapdragon 855 and is coupled with an Adreno 640 GPU which is built on a 7nm process. So both are having the top of line chipset so the performance on both of them is equal.
All the heavy games like PUBG, Asphalt 9, etc. played smoothly and the 90Hz refresh rate does provide a good experience. In terms of benchmarks, the scores were almost equal as both have the same chipset. Both smartphones come with UFS 3.0 storage which is faster than the UFS 2.1 storage found on many smartphones.
The OnePlus 7T comes in two options: 8GB RAM and 128GB storage another with 256GB storage whereas on the other hand, the Realme X2 Pro comes with: 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
Both the smartphones lack a microSD card slot for expansion. So here the Realme X2 Pro holds an edge as it has a higher RAM variant which provides faster speeds but you won’t notice any difference in both of these. But considering the price of the Realme X2 Pro, the higher RAM variant does edge the OnePlus 7T by a very slight margin.
Winner: Realme X2 Pro with extra gigabytes of RAM
Realme X2 Pro vs OnePlus 7T Software:
The Realme X2 Pro will soon be updated to Android 10 which comes out of the box with the OnePlus 7T. Here when you see the animations while opening and closing applications OxygenOS is faster.
Both smartphones get system-wide dark mode, app drawer, and dedicated place where the Realme has a dedicated GameSpace and the OnePlus has the Fnatic Mode for enhanced gaming. The beauty of the OxygenOS is its versatility which is almost close to Stock Android making it faster and better.
The ColorOS isn’t far behind as it also provides many customizations but some unnecessary applications come preinstalled which increases the bloatware. With each update of OxygenOS, the UI is becoming smoother and better. OxygenOS is also faster in receiving security and software updates.
Realme is also working on its own OS called the RealmeOS which will soon come to Realme smartphones but it is a farthing. With more features and a clean look, the OnePlus 7T holds an edge over the Realme X2 Pro.
Winner: OnePlus 7T with the beauty of OxygenOS
Realme X2 Pro vs OnePlus 7T Camera:
The Realme X2 Pro has four cameras to the back: 64MP f/1.8 main camera + 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens + 13MP f/2.5 telephoto lens and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor whereas the OnePlus 7T has three cameras to the back: 48MP f/1.6 Sony IMX586 sensor + 16MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens + 12MP f/2.2 telephoto lens which has 2X zoom view (OnePlus 7 Pro has an 8MP telephoto lens).
The photos taken from the main camera on both smartphones are equally good with punchier colors and natural-looking. In some cases, the images shot on Realme X2 Pro hold an edge as the 64MP images have a good level of details outputting to 16MP images.
The 48MP camera on the OnePlus 7T also shoots good images with a good level of detail. But when zoomed in the details aren’t as sharp as that of the images of Realme X2 Pro. But the images shot from the 48MP output 12MP images by default look more realistic and natural than the 64MP images of the Realme X2 Pro.
Coming to low lighting conditions, both smartphones come with a dedicated Night Mode. The Night Mode on Realme X2 Pro works very well as it outclasses the one on the OnePlus 7T. But one thing that the OnePlus 7T has over the Realme X2 Pro is OIS which helps the OnePlus 7T take good shots during low lighting conditions and at the night.
Without the night mode, the OnePlus 7T takes better images than the Realme X2 Pro but not to bother as both the cameras are good equally. With HDR on both produce even better images.
Coming to the ultrawide camera, the OnePlus 7T has a 16MP ultrawide lens compared to 8MP on the Realme X2 Pro.
So the images taken from the OnePlus 7T have a better field of view and have much more detail than that of the Realme X2 Pro. The images were taken in the night and low lighting conditions from the ultrawide camera of the OnePlus 7T are slightly better than the Realme X2 Pro.
Though one advantage that the Realme X2 Pro holds is that for the ultrawide camera and the telephoto lens, there is a dedicated Night Mode which the OnePlus 7T lacks. The NightScape works well for the Realme X2 Pro.
In the telephoto lens, the Realme X2 Pro has a 13MP compared to 12MP on the OnePlus 7T. Here the images on the Realme X2 Pro come out to be slightly better than that of the OnePlus 7T but you won’t notice much of a difference. The images in the night also come out to be equally good but the OnePlus 7T takes the lead here as it has OIS which the Realme X2 Pro lacks.
Both can take good macro shots using the telephoto lens but the Realme X2 Pro can focus as close as 2.5cm from the object. Plus the edge detection and background blur work well for the Realme X2 Pro.
Coming to portraits, both smartphones take equally good portraits but in some conditions, the Realme X2 Pro takes better portraits than the OnePlus 7T as it provides better edge detection and proper background blur.
The OnePlus 7T holds an edge in skin tones as the images look a little bit natural than that of Realme X2 Pro. Though not to forget the Realme X2 Pro has a dedicated depth sensor.
On the front, both come with a 16MP f/2.0 sensor which takes good photos on both smartphones. Here there is very little to distinguish between but in most cases, the Realme X2 Pro takes better selfies than the OnePlus 7T.
Coming to videos both can take Super SlowMo videos at 960fps. Both have the ability to take 4k videos at 60fps. The videos taken from the OnePlus 7T are better than that of the Realme X2 Pro as the colors come out good and the level of details are better. Plus the OIS helps the videos come out more stable than that of the Realme X2 Pro.
Switching to 1080p videos, both the smartphones take good videos with good stabilization. Switching to night and low light conditions, the videos on the OnePlus 7T come out better as the OIS works very well. The level of detail is also great on the OnePlus 7T.
Coming to front camera videos, here the Realme X2 Pro takes good videos with a good level of detail and there is one more feature in the Realme X2 Pro that the OnePlus 7T lacks is a Bokeh Mode for the video as it can take portrait videos.
Realme X2 Pro also has the capability of switching between various video modes while shooting which the OnePlus 7T lacks. Both have good cameras as in some areas the OnePlus 7T excels and in other areas the Realme X2 Pro excel.
Winner: Tie as both have good cameras.
Realme X2 Pro vs OnePlus 7T Battery Life:
When using both the smartphones on a minimum basis both can easily last for a day and with heavy gaming, continuous 2-3 hours of video playback, and web browsing, the Realme X2 Pro has 15-20% left whereas the OnePlus 7T has only 10% left. Even the standard screen on time on the Realme X2 Pro is slightly better than on the OnePlus 7T. Nonetheless, both can charge quickly as both come with their own proprietary fast charger.
In tests, it was shown that from 0-30 mins, the OnePlus 7T charged to 72% and it took to 100% within 55mins. The Realme X2 Pro charged from 0-100% within 32mins. That is insanely fast! Both have the support of fast charging through USB Power Delivery but the Realme X2 Pro can charge fastly through any fast charger but the OnePlus 7T needs the Wrap Charger to top it up.
So when it comes to battery life, the standard screen on time, and charging speed, the Realme X2 Pro holds an edge over the OnePlus 7T.
Winner: Realme X2 Pro with the 50W SuperVOOC charging.
Realme X2 Pro vs OnePlus 7T Sound Quality:
With the better overall sound quality and the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack, the Realme X2 Pro holds an edge here.
Winner: Realme X2 Pro with the 3.5mm headphone jack and sound quality.
Verdict: Which is the better one?
In terms of design, the OnePlus 7T holds the edge as the frosted glass feels premium than the normal glass build on the Realme X2 Pro. The cameras on both smartphones are good as the OnePlus 7T has better night photography, the Realme X2 Pro has better day photos.
The software on the OnePlus 7T also holds an advantage over the Realme X2 Pro as the former ships with Android 10 out of the box and compared to ColorOS, the OxygenOS has better security and software updates and also provides more customizations.
The Realme X2 Pro outshines the OnePlus 7T in terms of battery life and charging speed as the 50 SuperVOOC outclasses the competition. The sound is slightly better on the Realme X2 Pro and it has the 3.5mm headphone jack which the OnePlus 7T lacks.
The OnePlus 7T is expensive as the base variant that is the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs.37,999 and the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is Rs.39,999. OnePlus offers some deals on its smartphones during festival times as you can use your debit/credit card for a lower price tag. So with the extra RAM, the Realme X2 Pro is a good overall value for money smartphones with good specifications.
Both are good options and it’s clear if you want value for money then Realme X2 Pro is the one and if better software and the reputation of OnePlus then the OnePlus 7T is the one to go for. You can choose either one of them.
